GRANT AWARDED - 2nd Heysham brownies and Guides

​The 3R Foundation recently awarded £500 to 2nd Heysham brownies and Guides for 3x Android computer tablets and a wheeled storage case.
Heysham Brownies and Guides help young girls learn new skills, gain qualifications such as Duke of Edinburgh award, gain badges in areas they may never have experienced such as cooking, camping and survival skills.

​They help them gain life experience and come together to help give them tools they may need for their adult life while enjoying their childhood. They mentioned that many of their girls come from deprived backgrounds and as such have no spare income for the programme or no access to technology at home.

They wanted to purchase 3 Samsung tablets that they could then pre load with access to the badge work that the girls may need. This would be shared over both the Brownies and Guides. Brownies are aged 7-10 and there are currently 30 of them, with 4 on the waiting list. Guides are 10-14 and there are currently 15 of them and 5 on the waiting list. The new tablets mean that the girls that have no access to technology at home and may need it to research things for badge work and broadening their knowledge would be able to do so in the unit time.
